CRYPTOCard secures remote access at Laterooms online hotel booking service

14 June 2010
Online hotel accommodation provider Laterooms.com has selected CRYPTO-MAS, the cloud-based two-factor authentication (2FA) solution from CRYPTOCard, to enhance security in its business and ensure PCI (Payment Card Industry)compliance - protecting its network from the risks of data integrity attacks, hackers and ID fraudsters, and enabling secure access from a remote device.

The service has so far been rolled out across key areas of the business integral to PCI compliance and currently secures the digital identities of Laterooms’ IT staff. There are plans to extend the service further over the next 12 months following this successful first stage roll-out.

The need for businesses to protect their intellectual property and core business assets from hackers is ever increasing; however when the business primarily exists online or in a cloud-based environment, this risk is greatly increased. Standard passwords alone do not provide adequate protection to mitigate this threat, particularly when employees are accessing the network remotely. Laterooms.com sought to implement a solution to securely allow access to internal information via a remote device.

Gavin Hamill, IT Manager at Laterooms.com, commented “We needed an easy to use authentication solution that was both flexible and truly robust. As an online business we cannot afford to ignore threats to our network security and compliance with standards such as PCI is an important element for us. CRYPTO-MAS has been fundamental to the deployment of secure and validated access to our server estate.”

Laterooms.com selected CRYPTOCard through Probrand, a CRYPTOCard partner. The company is rolling out CRYPTOCard’s cloud-based two-factor authentication service across the organisation. The simplicity of the CRYPTO-MAS service enabled Laterooms.com to be up and running within two hours and the solution is easily maintained, giving Laterooms.com the high level of security desired, without requiring high levels of ongoing support.

“Allowing employees to access the company network remotely is essential for companies who are delivering online services and have a high level of visibility on the internet. Businesses need to put measures in place to protect the data they hold, and standard passwords just cannot protect against the sophisticated hackers around today,” said Neil Hollister, CEO, CRYPTOCard. “We are pleased to be delivering a strong and affordable two-factor authentication solution to secure the data on Laterooms.com’s network.

CRYPTO-MAS secures digital identities using a global cloud-based authentication platform. It delivers a low cost, ultra reliable platform that benefits from the widest and most innovative range of tokens available on any cloud based authentication service. CRYPTO-MAS was the first Password as a Service – PaaS – offering on the market and brings the benefits of cloud-based services to the authentication space, including no upfront cost, no ongoing IT & resource overheads and an enterprise 99.999% service level, all delivered in a utility-based pricing model.
