Backup Direct chosen to backup the data gathered by the Catlin Arctic Survey 2010

07 July 2010
The Catlin Arctic Survey 2010 is a study on what effects greenhouse gases are having on the environment. An explorer team – directed by Polar Explorer, Pen Hadow and led by one of the top women in Polar Exploration, Ann Daniels - has been travelling across the Arctic for the past two months collecting data that will hopefully provide key scientific insight into the effects of ocean change.

Backup Direct has announced their partnership with Geo Mission Ltd and the Catlin Arctic Survey. Backup Direct were chosen by Geo Mission, the company behind the Catlin Arctic Survey, to backup the mission-critical data gathered by the Explorer Team during the survey.

“We contacted Backup Direct to explore their service offering, in the knowledge that we needed to replace our then backup solution,” comments Anabel Beltran, Project Manager for Geo Mission. “Rarely have I come across a business that is so responsive. The Backup Direct team explained their service to me, then, swiftly and efficiently implemented the solution – all the while resolving the inevitable glitches that arise with any implementation. The Backup Direct solution is working perfectly for us – they even call us if for any reason one of our team has not recently backed up their machine! Most importantly, their service means our data is secure – and the people in the field on our missions are safer.”

Backup Direct Managing Director, Brett Raynes, comments “The Geo Mission project is important for learning more about how our planet is adapting. It is an honour to have been chosen by the Catlin Arctic Survey to be trusted with the protection of such important information. We, like many others, look forward to hearing what they find”.
